Say hi to Felicia!

Here’s the answers to some FAQ’s! If you don’t see the answer to your question, feel free to connect with me!

What made you get into birthwork?

Well, really started when I was about 5 years old. My mother went into labor with my little sister with no other support around besides me. I was able to help soothe my mother and find someone to help us. I then became a mother myself at 17 years old. The experience was a difficult one to navigate and I didn’t feel like I had the support that I needed. My second pregnancy was much different. I was supported by a wonderful doula and I knew from there that it was something that I really wanted to give back to the community. I talk more about my parenting journey and how it lead me into the birthwork field here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r6qfrZbhTmU

Tell me about your training and experience?

I have over 8 years experience in the birthwork field. Throughout my caree, I have trained extensively with Birth Arts International, Shafia Monroe Consulting, the Academy of Lactation Policy and Practice, the Nafsa Project School of Traditional Postpartum Medicine in Morocco, and I was recently accepted into The Commonsense Childbirth School of Midwifery’s Certified Practical Midwife program. I have completed trainings including Spinning Babies, Dancing for Birth, rebozo, and more. I have also attended workshops including Reproductive Justice 101 and Queering Reproductive Justice. I am a registered nurse with experience in the labor and delivery and behavioral health fields. Certified in infant and adult first aid, CPR, and Basic Life Support.
